Al-Balad swears by Makkah itself, states that man was created in hardship, and then names the steep path he keeps declining to climb — and it turns out to be freeing a slave and feeding people on a day of hunger.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ…وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ
An oath by this city, by a father and what he begot; wealth spent boastfully, and the two paths shown.
Study days 1-4
فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ…عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌۭ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ
Freeing a neck, feeding an orphan or a poor man in the dust — and then being of those who believe and counsel patience.
Study days 4-7
The steep path is defined entirely by what it costs other people, not by anything private between a man and his Lord.
